Coates Willow Charcoal Sticks - Medium 5-6mm Soft Deep Black (Pack Of 25)

About This Product

Artists and sketchers, you're going to love these Coates willow charcoal sticks. Grown and produced in Somerset, England, this is the real deal - not compressed charcoal dust but actual willow branches burned to create beautiful, soft, deep black charcoal. The medium 5-6mm diameter is perfect for both broad strokes and finer details when you use the edges. What's great about willow charcoal compared to compressed varieties is how easily it blends and how lightly it sits on the paper - perfect for creating atmospheric sketches, initial outlines, or subtle shading. It erases relatively easily too, which makes it fantastic for figure drawing or any situation where you might need to adjust your work. I've used these for everything from quick gesture sketches to more detailed tonal drawings, and they never disappoint. The consistency is reliable stick to stick, and they produce minimal dust compared to some cheaper charcoals. They work beautifully on their own or combined with pastels, paints, or other drawing mediums. The pack of 25 gives you plenty to work with, and at this price point, you don't feel guilty using them generously. Whether you're a student, professional artist, or just enjoy sketching for relaxation, these high-quality charcoal sticks will elevate your drawing experience. Just remember to use fixative when you're done if you want your work to stay put!
